Tricity Day Tour: Gdansk, Gdynia & Sopot 8-hour Excursion
This 8-hour tour explores the Tricity region of Gdansk, Gdynia, and Sopot, ideal for visitors interested in Baltic coastal culture and history.
Description
Known as the Tricity region since 2007, the three Baltic Sea cities—Gdansk, Gdynia, and Sopot—offer diverse attractions along the Gdansk Bay coast. This tour covers key highlights across all three cities.
Begin with a walk in Gdansk’s Old Town, one of Europe’s most beautiful historic markets. Stroll along Długa Street from the Golden Gate past the Town Hall, Neptune Fountain, Arthur’s Court, and end at the Green Gate overlooking the Motława River. Visit the Museum of Arthur’s Court and the Amber Chamber, featuring a demonstration of amber polishing and a brief amber lecture. See the Old Crane, a well-known city symbol, and the Church of St Mary, Europe’s largest brick Gothic church.
Next, visit Gdansk’s Oliwa suburb to see the 16th-century Oliwa Cathedral, the world’s longest Cistercian church. The cathedral features a blend of Baroque, Rococo, and Renaissance styles and is notable for its pipe organ concerts. Attend a live organ recital inside the basilica before traveling to Gdynia Harbor.
At Gdynia Harbor, tour the Dar Pomorza, a historic 1909 tall sailing frigate turned museum ship. Explore crew living quarters on the Twin Deck, view photographs, maps, and sailing memorabilia from its training ship past, including the 1980 Cutty Sark Trophy.
Conclude the tour in Sopot, a seaside resort town. Walk the spa promenade and Europe’s longest wooden pier, built in 1827 and extending over 500 meters into the Bay of Gdansk. The pier offers views of Sopot’s distinctive terracotta rooftops.
This guided excursion covers key sites and provides local insights into additional Tricity attractions to explore independently.
