Description
The Elblag Canal, also known as the Elblag-Ostroda Canal, extends over 80 km from Elblag to Ostroda and is Poland’s longest navigable canal still in use. Its uniqueness lies in how it manages a 100-meter elevation change between Druzno Lake and Piniewo Lake using an innovative system of inclined planes rather than traditional locks. Boats are lifted out of the water and moved across dry land on tracks to overcome this height difference.
The itinerary includes meeting your driver in Gdansk and traveling to Buczyniec for a boat cruise passing four inclined planes: Buczyniec, Olesnica, Jablonki, and Jelenie. The tour finishes at Jelenie, followed by transportation to Elblag for a coffee break and free time before returning to Gdansk.
