Description
Sopot is the smallest town within the Polish Tricity, located between historic Gdańsk and industrial Gdynia. It is known as the nightlife center of the region. Historically a spa town with 19th-century mansions and intellectual cafes, Sopot now blends old-world charm with modern restaurants and clubs, especially along the 600-meter promenade called Monciak.
The tour covers Monciak’s famous buildings, including the postmodern Krzywy Domek (Crooked House). You will explore side streets with palaces and villas illustrating why real estate prices here are among Poland’s highest. Notable stops include the Monument to Wojtek the Bear and the fountain of Johnny the Fisherman.
You will hear stories about local culture, from artists’ parties at SPATiF to conflicts between the city and the church, and the history behind the Grand Hotel, once hosting Hitler and de Gaulle. Ending at Sopot’s wooden pier, the tour offers insight into both Sopot’s historic significance and its contemporary social scene.
